Ripatransone, nicknamed the "Belvedere of the Piceno" for the extraordinary panoramic views afforded by its hilltop location at an altitude of 494 meters, is a charming city of art situated just 12 kilometers from the Adriatic Sea.
It boasts an ancient and illustrious history: inhabited since the Paleolithic era and a significant center of the Piceni civilization, the town traces its medieval roots to the union of four ancient strongholds which still define its historic districts today:
City of Wine and Oil
Ripatransone boasts as many as 18 wineries, with a level of production that makes it a site of major interest on both the national and international stage. Standout grape varieties cultivated in the area include Montepulciano, Sangiovese, Pecorino and Passerina.
Ripatransone is equally renowned for its high-quality extra virgin olive oil production. The region’s ideal microclimate allows indigenous olive varieties like Sargano, Frantoio, Leccino and Carboncella to thrive, yielding an oil celebrated for its balanced fruitiness and exceptional sensory profile
How You Can Travel
There are various routes to reach the village depending on your starting point; many sections involve uphill climbs, so using a motorized or electric vehicle is advisable. While many people do make the trip by bicycle, please note that the roads lack dedicated bike lanes.
Once in the village, you can easily get around on foot, as it takes only about 20 minutes to walk from one end to the other. There is plenty of free parking available, as well as a paid parking area for camper vans.

Italy’s narrowest alley is located in the historic center measuring 43 centimeters in width, the small passageway narrows as it rises, eventually reaching a width of just 38 centimeters. It was precisely this detail that earned the alley its record-breaking title. To qualify as an "alley," a street must meet certain essential criteria: it must be paved, passable, and feature at least one door or window facing onto the path. Italy’s narrowest alley was discovered in 1968, when Professor Antonio Giannetti measured all the alleys in the historic center.
