Maps That Guide You

Walking directions, route paths, and a smarter inline map — all without leaving the app.

Getting from A to B in an unfamiliar place should feel effortless. Yet for too long, mobile guides made you juggle apps — tap a point, jump to your maps app, lose your place in the story, start again. ARTOUR's latest map update changes that completely. Every map feature now lives inside the app, speaks your language, and fits in one hand. Here is what is new.

Navigate here

Every map in ARTOUR now carries a single, prominent "Navigate here" button. Tap it and the app draws turn-by-turn walking directions from your current position straight to the selected point — all inside ARTOUR, without switching to Google Maps or Apple Maps. The route appears as a clean overlay on the familiar map, so context is never lost. Whether you are standing at the entrance of a cemetery or halfway down a cobbled lane, one tap is all it takes.

See the whole walk

Open any guide's map and you will see its stops connected by a bold orange line with small forward arrows pointing the way. This is the path view — a bird's-eye picture of the entire walk: where it starts, how it flows through the area, and where it ends. The line is drawn only where a real walking route exists, so it never creates false connections between unrelated search results. At a glance you can judge the distance, spot a shortcut, or simply feel oriented before you take the first step.

The map comes to you

Previously, tapping the map icon on a point's page took you away from the story. Now the map unfolds at the top of the page. The current point is highlighted; the guide's other stops appear dimmed around it for context. Scroll down and the story, photos, and audio are right there waiting — nothing lost, nothing reloaded. Better still: if you are within 1 km of the point, the walking route from your position to it is drawn automatically, so you know exactly how close you are before you even ask.

Your trail & small comforts

Trail tracking icon

Your trail

A subtle blue trail appears behind you as you walk, tracing where you have been over the last 30 minutes. Older sections fade gently, newer ones stay bright. On winding old-town streets where every alley looks the same, this quiet breadcrumb is surprisingly reassuring — you can always see whether you have already been down that lane.

Small comforts

Two details that matter more than they sound: the screen stays awake while location tracking is active, so the phone never locks mid-walk at the worst possible moment. And the maps load in your language, with controls sized and positioned for comfortable one-handed use — because most people hold their phone in one hand while they point at something with the other.

Ready to explore?

All of these improvements are live now. Open a guide, tap any point, and the map is already there. Follow the orange line, let the blue trail mark your path, and keep your eyes on the story — not on your phone screen.
