This is the new AI chat feature in ARTOUR — available now on any point of interest in the app. It is not a search engine. It is not a chatbot reciting Wikipedia. It is something more intimate: a conversation with the place itself, or with the person whose memory that place holds.
How It Feels to Use
On any site page within the ARTOUR app, a gentle chat button invites you to begin a conversation. At a monument, the monument speaks as itself. At a grave, the person buried there speaks — warmly, reflectively — to you, the visitor.
The experience is surprisingly moving. Ask a factual question — "When were you built?" — and you get a short, precise answer. Ask something more reflective — "What do you wish people understood about your time?" — and the reply opens up, becoming atmospheric, almost literary, while remaining grounded in what is truly known.
The chat speaks your language too. Whether you write in English, Slovenian, Italian, Spanish, German, or Danish, the conversation flows naturally in the language you choose.
Only What Is Truly Known
We built this feature with a principle that is non-negotiable: the AI may never invent a fact, a date, a name, or a relationship.
Every conversation is strictly grounded in the verified story of that specific site — the text, the documents, the sources that have been carefully linked to it by the heritage network that manages the content. The AI draws only from this curated knowledge. Nothing more.
If you ask something the record doesn't contain, the AI will tell you honestly:
"That detail is not something I can recall — I only speak of what is truly known."
And then it offers what is known instead. No hallucinations. No creative embellishments dressed up as history. For heritage partners who stake their reputation on accuracy — and for visitors who deserve the truth — this matters deeply.
Private by Design
We believe a conversation with the past should stay between you and the past.
Whenever your device supports it, the AI runs entirely on your phone. No messages leave the device. No data is sent to any server. The app even tells you so clearly: "Runs privately on your device — no messages are sent to any server."
On devices that lack the processing power for on-device AI, a secure cloud fallback is used — clearly labeled so you always know — with a modest daily limit to keep the experience respectful and sustainable.

Designed for Sensitive Places
A word about cemeteries — and about care.
Many of the networks that use ARTOUR manage heritage cemeteries, memorial sites, and places where respect is not optional. We designed the AI chat with these places foremost in mind.
The chat stays respectful at all times. It remains neutral on politics and religion. It never plays at spiritualism or pretends to channel the dead. When a person buried at a site "speaks," they do so warmly, reflectively — honoring their own story with the dignity it deserves.
This was not an afterthought. It was the starting point of the entire design. Because if a feature cannot work in the most sensitive place you serve, it should not exist at all.
