You could scroll through review sites, piece together a map, and hope for the best. Or you could open ARTOUR and let the app build a walking itinerary for you in seconds.
That's exactly what ARTOUR's new AI suggested itinerary does. It's fast, it's personal, and — here's the part we're most proud of — it physically cannot make places up.
Three Inputs, One Route
From the Explore screen, you tell the app just three things:
How Far
A simple slider lets you set your walking distance — anywhere up to 25 km. A quick stroll or a proper day walk, your call.
How Long
Another slider for your available time — up to 5 hours. The AI fits the route to your schedule, not the other way around.
What You Feel Like
Optionally, type what you're in the mood for in your own words — "quiet parks and one great viewpoint" — or leave it blank and let the AI surprise you.
One tap on "Let's move" and moments later you get a personal walking itinerary of 5–8 stops, opened like any normal ARTOUR guide: stops pinned on the map and connected in visit order, cards to swipe through, and full stories to read at each place. It feels effortless because it is.
AI That Can't Make Places Up
This is the part that matters most — especially if you've ever been burned by AI "hallucinations" inventing restaurants that don't exist or landmarks that were demolished years ago.
Here's how ARTOUR prevents that entirely:
Before the AI is ever asked a single question, the system builds a pool of verified, real places around your location. It pulls from four independent sources:
- ARTOUR's own curated guides and points — content created and maintained by local heritage organizations and tourism networks.
- Google Places — live business and attraction data.
- Wikipedia — encyclopedic knowledge with sourced facts.
- OpenStreetMap — community-maintained geographic data.
Places found in multiple sources are cross-matched and merged into one richer, more reliable entry. Only then does the AI step in — and it may only choose from this verified pool. It selects stops, orders them into a logical walk, and writes brief explanations. It never fabricates a place, a name, or a photo.
Photos come from the verified sources, not from the AI. And stops that draw on Wikipedia or OpenStreetMap data credit those sources directly on the stop card.
In short: the AI is the curator, not the creator. The places are real. Period.
Hidden Gems Over Tourist Traps
Most travel apps funnel you toward the same overcrowded highlights and sponsored listings. ARTOUR's AI itineraries take a different approach.
The taste rules are deliberate:
- Cultural heritage and lesser-known places with a real story are preferred over tourist-trap defaults.
- Ordinary shops and businesses only make the cut if exceptional visitor ratings prove people genuinely travel to see them.
- Accommodation is never included — this is a walking itinerary, not a booking engine.
The result is a mix you'd be proud of building yourself: a few curated ARTOUR stops with rich content from local experts, plus top nearby attractions you'd expect in any good guide, plus a couple of hidden gems — the kind of places a knowledgeable local friend would point you toward.
Each stop comes with a genuine description. Where facts are thin, descriptions stay short and honest instead of padded with filler. We'd rather give you two good sentences than five vague ones.
