Language Awareness

Our mobile app is designed to be language-aware. It automatically recognizes the language settings of the user’s device, ensuring that the app displays in the language the user is most familiar with.

Location Awareness

In addition to language, the ARtour mobile guide also recognizes the user’s location. This combination of language and location awareness makes the app intuitive and user-friendly.

The Guides List Based on Language and Location

The app uses both the device language and the user’s location to provide a curated list of available guides. Here’s how the guides are sorted:

Nearest guides around

Guides closest to the user’s current location are prioritized.

Language Preference

If there are multiple guides within the same distance, the app will display the guide in the device’s language first.

English Version

If no guide is available in the device language, the English version will appear next.

This system ensures that users are shown the most relevant guides based on their language and location.

Searching for Guides

The app also sorts guides by distance when users search for them. This means that the closest guide will appear first, though if two guides are at the same distance, the app might show the one in the user’s device language, or, if unavailable, the English version.

This approach aims to always provide the best options based on availability and relevance.

Guide Language Settings

Users can customize their guide language preferences in the app settings. Currently, English and Slovenian are supported, but if you’d like to contribute translations, feel free to reach out to us! If a user selects a language other than the device’s default language, the guides list will adjust accordingly, displaying guides in the preferred language first.

How to Set Your Guide Language

To set the language of your guide:

1.Go to your guide and click on the edit button.

2. In the edit dialog, choose the desired language from the language dropdown field.

How to Easily Create a New Language Version
If you already have a guide with 20 or more points in one language and would like to create a version in another language, you can easily translate your guide. Follow the steps for creating a new (sub)version of a guide to duplicate your points (including images and locations) and make the necessary language adjustments.
