Create a (Sub)Version of an Existing Guide

Why Create a (Sub)Version of a Guide?

Sometimes, you might want the same guide in another language. Images, locations, and other details remain the same, but the language changes.

Other times, you may realize that a specific theme deserves its own guide. For example, if your main guide has 50 points, and 20 of them are related to musicians, why not create a focused “Musicians Guide”?

Two Ways to Create a (Sub)Version

1. Add to My Guide

  • Open your existing guide and click the Add to My Guide button (blue).
  • All the points from your current guide will appear in a gray strip at the bottom. From here, you can select and add them to your new guide.

This method creates a new guide with the same points. You can remove unnecessary points, edit, or translate them as needed. If translating, don’t forget to set the language for the guide.

2. Discover Related Points

  • Search for points that are relevant to your new guide.
  • Under the ARTOUR Points tab, you’ll see your existing points and potentially some additional ones you hadn’t considered.

From here, click on any point to add it to the gray strip at the bottom. Then, import these points into your new guide.

Original and New Points
When you import a point into a new guide:

  • A new version of the point is created, and a link to the original is saved in the Sources List (below the point description).
  • These points are now independent. Editing one will not affect the other. The link simply tracks the connection between the two.

This ensures flexibility and clarity when managing different versions of your guides.
