The sculpture was created by Ugo Zannoni in 1886.
The monument represents Callisto Zorzi in the act of giving money to the poor. He himself, in fact, was originally a humble foreman who, working hard, had managed to become a rich building contractor.
Curiosity: the monument celebrates the generosity of Callisto, however the marble coin that remains in his hand has entered the proverbs as a synonym of avarice.
