The city of Ptuj which is since always known after good wine also have a rich wine underground. Ptuj has more than 700 years old wine tradition. Ptuj's rich wine underground has approximately 2 kilometre of path and capacity of approximately 5 million litres. The oldest wine on Slovenian - year 1917 (not for sale) is kept in the Ptuj wine underground - in the archive and represent the symbol of Slovenian wine production. But you can buy the next oldest wine - a year 1920 - it has a price of approximately 54.000 €. In the wine archive the use to keep even older wine - a year 1862 - but it was destroyed during the bomb attack. Mr. Hornik - a owner of wine cellar has all the credits that the wine with year 1917 is still preserved. Before the war he built in the cellar in order to protect it against muggers and war demolition.
Ptuj wine cellar is a member of Perutnina Ptuj and has represent a new brand in year 2007 - Pullus. The name origins from Latin and stands for a sprout. The Pullus wines confirm its quality with the rewards from all over the world. If you decide to visit the wine cellar they will gladly show it to you and you will also be able to see a fine collection of wine bottles, you will also be able to enter inside the wine archive. Beside that you can also try different wines and see a short movie about wine underground.
