Prince Oscar Bernadotte (1859-1953)

Prince Oscar born in 1859 at Drottningholm’s Palace was second son to King Oscar II. Being born prince of Sweden, Norway and Duke of Gotland, Oscar lost his titles after marrying a non-royal in 1888. Prince Oscar and his wife princess Ebba née Munck af Fulkila were both deeply religious and active in organizations such as YMCA of Sweden and the Salvation Army.

The architect Gunnar Asplund, known for the famous Woodland Cemetery, Skogskyrkogården, designed the Bernadotte mausoleum in which Prince Oscar rests.
