Viscount Pereira Machado's Chapel
The second marbel chapel
Viscount Pereira Machado’s chapel (number 31), got famous for the parties in his mansion, in Formosa street. The chapel dates back to 1861 and was the second in the cemetery made of marble stone. It was maybe the first big tumular construction made by António Almeida da Costa- former construction site officer for Emídio Carlos Amatucci who would become rich not only in the marble business, but also in ceramics and foundry, having been the founder of the Devesas Ceramic Factory, in Vila Nova de Gaia.
