by Ulderico Fabbri
Eclectic sculptor Ulderico Fabbri began his artistic career in Rome, creating male nudes and symbolic compositions. He went on to become a major figure in the field of religious sculpture, with works like the mausoleum of Bishop Ruggero Bovelli in the Cathedral of Ferrara, and the Pala del Sacro Cuore at the Duomo of Milan. The 14 terracotta stations that make up the Via Crucis, which extends along the entire First Grand Cloister, were sculpted in 1935.
