Philosopher, politician and abbot. He was Minister of the Kingdom of Sardinia and Head of the Sardinian Government. As a philosopher he is the most representative of the 1800s’ Catholic spiritualism. He was the author of “Del primato morale e civile degli Italiani”, in which he suggested a confederation of Italian States under the presidency of the Pope (the so-called neo-Guelphism).
