Protocol events take place in Preatorian Palace
The palace was the seat of the podesta (city superior), captains, the great council and other city administration.
It has rich heraldic façade decorations, the statue of Justice and Ghibelline style merlons.
The treasures to be visited in the palace are a chest of drawers which served for the keeping of festive garments, an 18th century pharmacy and various belongings of Koper noble families.
You can also visit a painted timber by the famous Slovenian artist Ivo Kisovec.
In addition to municipal council meetings and protocol receptions, the palace hosts numerous congresses, meetings, panel discussions, workshops and lectures; there are also exhibitions organised in the foyer.
