Top memories from Dubrovnik weekend
Hospitality, clear blue sea and 5 reasons to come back again 5 times.
Visiting Dubrovnik in February is just beyond relaxing. Walls and historic sights are one of those things that you cannot miss of course. But as in my first visit, I was much more impressed by clear blue sea and hospitality that seems to be part of the lifestyle around here.
Saturday morning at Excelsior hotel was a perfect start. Incredibly calm and silent room until you open the door of the balcony. And then, an overview of the Lokrum and old Dubrovnik. Immediatelly you can understand why someone tried very hard to build a hotel on top of these clifs.
A walk around the town was not really pleasant due to cold winds that are of course part of winter weather. But as if that does not bother locals. Everybody is enjoying the life and for most part you can see smiling and cheerful people. Need something? Everybody tries to help even if your request are really not ussual.
Especially when you walk into a restaurant Gusta me. In the middle of the day we went inside just for a salad. Waiter was fantastic. Just because of him I finished up with 2 glasses of wine and promise we come again in the evening. And we did. New staff, same hospitality. Amazing food (gluten free) and wine. Just perfect for continuing to an evening walk.
Then a concert in Revelin club in the Revelin fortress. Ambience and music makes the night magical and as with any great event, just ends up too quickly.
When we were leaving from hotel it seemed like that's it. Except it was not. The driver who took us to the airport was one of the greatest tourism workers I have ever met. In 20 minutes he gave me at least 5 more reasons to come back. In spring, summer, autumn and then twice more randomly. Earned a big tip. Well deserved.
