The theatre and film actor Bert Sotlar was born as the fourth child in a poor coal miner’s family. He studied at the Ljubljana Academy of Theatre Arts. He performed in numerous Slovenian films (Ne joči Peter(Don't Cry, Peter), Dobri, stari pianino (Good Old Piano), Srečno Kekec!(Good Luck, Kekec), Tistega lepega dne (One Fine Day), etc.) as well as in English and German co-productions. He was a member of the Ljubljana Drama for many of years. He was also the member of the Yugoslav drama theatre in Belgrade. For his work he received national and foreign film awards.
