An island. A glowing sea.

An island. A glowing sea.

This island has a beach which is famous through out the world for its glow in the dark. The splendid water in the sea just looks like a reflection in the mirror reflecting the stars sparkling from above the sky.
The island
The island is located on the equator, south west of Sri Lanka. It makes part of a group of islands which are considered the heaven on Earth, decorated with white sand and surrounded by warm waters with rich marine life. The beaches here give the chance to enjoy the magnificent beauty of the nature and also to involve in some adventurous activities like wind surfing, diving and snorkeling.

The Sea of Stars
The glowing in the dark is generally a natural phenomena which is very rare. It is due to a species of plankton named dinoflagellates which emits the blue light because its cell membranes have the ability of responding to the electric signals and glow. The light created by plankton is concentrated in the beach edges and it is bright enough to be seen from distant. When people walk across the sand near the shore of the sea, due to the pressure, the light also glows in the sand.

This type of phenomena usually occurs in the end of spring and summer and may also be seen in some other places like Japan, Indonesia, Bali and so on.
