32. Benvenuto Tisi known as Il Garofalo

Ferrara 1481-1559
A painter, a 16th century master of the School of Ferrara, a follower of Raphael (whose influence is evident in his style), and the author of several magnificent altarpieces. He’s the only Renaissance artist from Ferrara whose body was transferred into the Charterhouse (the Cell of Ferrara’s Illustrious Citizens), having been moved from the Church of Santa Maria in Vado, where his sepulchral inscription remained until 1827.
