Budapest with family: Day 4

Nov 22, 2015

A Flexible Day

For the last day, it all depends on the weather! If it’s not in your favor, no worries—head back to the hotel for some pampering, and you’ll still have a great time

Morning Adventure: Great Market Hall

Start the day with a visit to the Great Market Hall, one of Budapest’s largest and oldest indoor markets. It’s a feast for the senses with a vast variety of foods and goods, making it a fun spot for kids and adults alike.

After the market, take a stroll across the nearby bridge and, if you’re up for it, hike up to Citadella for an incredible view and fresh air.

Afternoon Stroll: Danube River Walk

If you missed it on Day 1, a walk along the Danube River offers stunning views of Buda and its historic buildings. Along the way, you’ll pass iconic sites like the Budapest Whale building. Alternatively, explore Váci utca, one of Budapest’s oldest streets, filled with shops and lively street scenes.

Exploring the Parliament District

At the end of Váci utca, you’ll find yourself near Hungarian Parliament. This area is home to some of Budapest’s most impressive architecture, including the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Gresham Palace, and poignant landmarks like the Shoes on the Danube Bank memorial and Kossuth Memorial.

Relaxing on Margaret Island

For a relaxing end to your trip, head to Margaret Island. Easily accessible by foot or bus, this green oasis in the middle of the Danube is perfect for a family day out. Kids can burn off extra energy in the open spaces, and the whole family can enjoy a picnic or just unwind in nature. After four days of adventure, you’ve earned a well-deserved break in this peaceful spot!

Complete Guide

All the fun from these four days is packed into a guide for easy reference. And remember—if you’re hungry and not limited by diet, don’t miss the best chimney cake in Budapest!

Discovering the “Almost Narrowest” Street in the World

uring a short vacation on Krk Island, I decided to explore using the ARtour app, and one of the results that stood out was Vrbnik. The main image immediately drew me in, and I knew I had to visit this charming village. As I walked through the...

Budapest with family: Day 2

After a fun-filled day at Aquaworld, it’s great to spend a day in Budapest’s City Park. A free hotel shuttle will take you there in just half an hour. With kids, the Budapest Zoo is a fantastic stop—though some areas show signs of age, the zoo offers a close-up...

Instead of a romantic hotel in the city center, we chose the Ramada Resort at the northern edge of Budapest. The decision was easy—this hotel is connected to Aquaworld, a water park with something for everyone in the family: Little Kids' Corner: This area is...
