About the cemeteryPobrežje Cemetery is the central city cemetery in Maribora and was founded in 1879. It is a place of rest, peace and feelings. It is a place of memory. His calmness, trails and planting of greenery allow us to, at least momentarily, escape from the bustle of the city and in silence enjoy the memories.
Cultural heritageDue to its rich history, Pobrežje Cemetery represents an important part of the cultural heritage of Maribor and Europe in general. Over the centuries, people have been writing down memories of relatives, their lives and events on monuments, altars and other symbols. These memories can still be read on the altars preserved in the city and monuments at the cemetery. Because of that Pobrežje Cemetery is a member of the international Association of Significant Cemeteries in Europe (ASCE) and part of the European Cemeteries Route.
